Green/Blue/Chroma Screen Test in Bad Lighting Using HDR Video With Canon T2i

I shot this video in a poorly lit room using my Canon T2i with the latest magiclantern firmware in order to test out the effect of HDR video on chromakeying. The camera shoots 720p 60fps with alternating ISOs to create a video file I could pull apart and then use enfuse/ffmpeg/mencoder to mix the resuklting HDR frames back into a 30fps 720 HDR video. The HDR video provided a much much flatter green on my greenscreen which allowed me to key it out more easily and accurately despite the poor lighting conditions. I also applied the Keyspill mop up and spill correction plugins (I am using the latest SVN kdenlive build).

I think this will help me create chroma keyed videos with a lot more reliability. I’ll be posting a more in depth video (more likely a series of videos) on this process in the near future. I love playing around with the magiclantern firmware. It is freaking awesome!
